Lake Geneva is a lake shared by Switzerland and France, named after the city at its southern-most tip. Visitors come from all over the world to see the Jet d’Eau, Chillon Castle [link to other attraction], the Palais des Nations [link to other attraction], and the Plage de Préverenges. Dip your toe in the shallow water at the scenic beach, with the mountains as a backdrop. It is where the speed of sound was tested in freshwater for the first time. The cities around the lake are full of activity, with luxury shopping, fine dining, and wine. If you are a wine lover, a trip to Lake Geneva is an absolute must. The Lavaux vineyards stretch for almost 20 miles around the lake. Since the times of the Romans, these vineyards have produced some of Switzerland’s finest wines. Every year, to celebrate the arrival of spring, even the smallest businesses open their doors to sell wine during the Caves Ouvertes. Pair it with traditional Swiss food at one of the festival stalls and you have magic in your hands.
