The Zoologischer Garten Basel, or Zoo Basel is Switzerland's oldest and largest zoo. It is also the most-visited tourist attraction in Switzerland. Zoo Basel boasts both the first Indian rhinoceros birth and greater fling hatch in a zoo. It was where the breeding program of Somali wild ass started, and just about every wild donkey in zoos around the globe are related to those in Basel. It has had great breeding success with cheetahs and pygmy hippopotamuses as well. If you are planning a trip to Basel, be sure to book your family in a private afternoon or evening tour at the zoo. Finish your day with a bite at the restaurant with a view of the Tembea enclosure. It’s a meal with a view of the elephants at play. Can you imagine anything better?
