A modern engineering marvel that connects two cities in two different countries? You heard that right. The Oresund Bridge does just that, connecting Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmo in Sweden. It is 16 km long and includes a road and rail link. That isn't it- it is divided into three sections - the bridge, an artificial island Peberholm, and a tunnel. If you are traveling to both Sweden and Denmark, there is absolutely no way that you should miss using this bridge. Stop and marvel at the feat of human achievement. You'll notice that the tunnel rises out of the sea over which the bridge is built. If you are flying out of Copenhagen, then you'll also get a rather special ariel view of this structure. Thanks to the bridge itself, the Swedish area of Malmo has also developed significantly, with a variety of tourist spots, restaurants overlooking the bridge and more. The other amazing thing? Most of the parts of this bridge such as the cable ties and piers were built on land and were affixed in place later using floating cranes.
