Corvin Castle was built in the Renaissance and Gothic style, with new wings and buildings added until 1480. It became widely recognized as the most impressive building in Eastern Europe.
This castle was constructed with high defensive towers, bastions, and double-walled fortifications. In 15th-century Romania it was quite innovative to include both circular and rectangular towers, which were used to keep larger weapons. Three of the towers were used as prisons, which may be where Vlad “the Impaler” was kept. Stone sculptures decorate the high balconies. Great feasts were once held in the Knight’s Hall.
Also known as Hunyadi Castle, it may also have been part of the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. It has been the filming location for “Ghost Adventures”, “Most Haunted Live!” and “The Nun.” Whether it’s Vlad you’re looking for, or perhaps a ghost of one of the prisoners who dug the well, this castle is sure to captivate the imagination.
Corvin Castle is everything a 15th-century castle should be: imposing and impressive.
Wondering how can you reach Corvin castle , well you can either take a bus, or even a taxi whatever is convenient for you, However the easiest is first you'll have to take a 3-hour bus from Sibiu to Deva, and from there you can catch another right outside the train station for a 40-minute ride to the town of Hunedoara.
