The Bako National Park is indeed a microcosm with seven distinct ecosystems all in its wake, with adventure-ridden jungle trails and undoubtedly the best place to get up close and personal with wildlife in their own domain. Though small in stature, it is nonetheless everything that one would expect from a park, packed in a convenient and easily explorable size. The park has amazing wildlife and beautiful sceneries to enjoy and even has a diverse array of features including beaches and forests. Bako is the oldest national park in the area, and what it lacks for in size makes up for its biodiversity which is the focal point in attracting people to it. There are over 150 species inside the park and it includes some rare specimens as well. The park is also famous because it is very accessible compared to some other national parks. The Bako National park is just a small boat ride away from the Bako village and is also very accessible to the airport and the city of Kuching.
The park’s highlights are the numerous rock formations that dot the sides of the park and provide one an insight into how the oceans shaped the world. The Park also has numerous beaches and bays for the small breaks from the forested areas. The forest itself is the heart of the national park where most of the wildlife and the flora is present, and what the visitors most look forward to when arriving here. Spending a couple of days at the park is highly suggested to make the most of it as also to check out all that the park has to offer. The best part of the park is also that the local wildlife is very habituated to human presence which lets the visitors get up close and personal with the wildlife and click pictures or interact with them in a way that is rarely possible anywhere else. It breathes new life into the animals present there and most definitely makes for a very memorable visit. Guess what the star of this wildlife reserve is? Well, the Proboscis monkey, of course with its unusual features almost like a pot-bellied guardian of the forest. So do come over and immerse yourself in this profusion of the natural world.
