For sure, this is one of the most beautiful temple complexes in the world. The Temple of Ramses II and Nefertari's Temple of Hathor are the main temples. The temple walls are carved out of sandstone cliffs. There are also samples of the original Egyptian alphabet on the walls. Two days in every year, towards the end of February and the end of October, the temple catches the first rays of the sunrise and they illuminate the whole temple along with the shrine in the sanctum sanctorum, due to its accurate solar alignment. Fun fact, this majestic complex was relocated by UNESCO, to a high ground close to the original site to avoid the possibility of a flood. Pick a qualified tour guide to help you understand the complex history of these temples and savor it at your own pace.
