About Tena

Situated at the edge of the Andes mountains, and surrounded by cloud forest, Tena is the capital of Napo province. This commercial centre is an upcoming tourist destination. Tena is the destination for people wanting to visit the Amazon forest which is just a stone’s throw from the place.

In contrast, many tourists find themselves unwilling to leave this attractive place even days after their Amazon forest visit. Its friendly population, jungle-covered hills and lots of backpacker infrastructure, make the place a delight. It is a haven for white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking and other lovers of adventure.

Though primarily an economic destination for the locals, the place has gained popularity in terms of being a tourist place especially for relaxed backpackers. This increase in the number of tourists has led to the rise of many agencies operating jungle tours and various other adrenaline-filled activities.

You will regret not including this Amazonian town in your itinerary. Also known as the gateway to the jungle in Ecuador, it is easily accessible by road. Reconnect with nature and wildlife with subsequent jungle visits.
