About The Museum of National History, Denmark

This Museum of National History is part of the University of Copenhagen. The museum is divided into a Geological section, a Zoological Museum, the Central Library, and the Botanical Gardens. Some of the objects in the collections at the museum are over four centuries old - so you really get to take a look at history up close and personal. There are over 14 million objects including minerals, fossils, a rich meteorite collection too. The highlight of the Geological collection is a piece of the moon brought back by Apollo 17. The building of the museum itself is grand and is inspired by the Versailles in Paris. The Botanical gardens also contain over 10,000 species of plants and organisms. When visiting, also check to see what their current special exhibits are, as they have a variety of international touring exhibits on display too, depending on the time of the year. Fun fact, the museum was founded by J.A Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg beer!
