About The Cabot Trail

The Cabot Trail is more than a “trail”. It is one of the most scenic roadways on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The Trail is a loop around the northern edge of Nova Scotia, 185 miles long. Follow the unique markers with a mountain logo, because it doesn’t have typical road signs.

Families will have long-lasting memories of the mountain views, the ocean vistas, and quiet Maritime towns along the way. Park the RV or camp, and go for a hike along the trails. Stop at any of the dozens of lookouts onto the Gulf of St. Lawrence for sightings of whales and eagles. Stay at one of the bed and breakfasts, play a round of golf, take in a spa day, or head to the beach.

Tantalize the taste buds with seafood sandwiches, or linguine with scallops, crab, or mussels. Explore the coast at Lakies Head where the rocks form a natural pathway to the shore. Watch the lobster boats as they come in, before their haul becomes your dinner. Step back in time at Lone Shieling for a peek at a shepherd’s hut made of stone, and trek the 4.5-mile climb up Mount Mackenzie for a view over Fisherman’s Cove 1,000 feet below.

You’ll feel the stress melt away on this once-in-a-lifetime trip along The Cabot Trail.
