For a glimpse into how our planet was shaped, look no further than Gros Morne National Park, on the west coast of Newfoundland. More than 1,000 square miles of country stretch from the Gulf of St. Lawrence, through forests, towards the Long Range Mountains. Experience every type of weather from the warmer temperate climates to Arctic-alpine.
See The Tablelands in a way few people in the world can claim. Two ancient continents came together to shape and expose the Earth’s inner mantle. Hike to mountain tops in the summer or cross-country ski in winter. Although you could experience everything the park has to offer on foot, why not get on board the Western Brook Pond Boat Tour, to take you past land-locked fjords, snap one-of-a-kind photos of moose and caribou, and waterfalls that practically disappear into mist before hitting the ground from 2,000 feet.
Gros Morne National Park may not have castle towers or well-maintained floral gardens, but the fjords and mountains provide their own kind of majesty. From forest and naked cliffs, exposed mantle rock, and even beaches, the park is full of natural beauty and wonder.
