About Pleven Panorama

For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, be sure to visit the Pleven Epopee, also known as Pleven Panorama. It is the only monument of its kind, built on the 100th anniversary of the Russian-Turkish War, on an actual battlefield in Pleven, Bulgaria. The panorama commemorates the 35,000 lives lost during the war, and the Liberation of Bulgaria after 500 years of Ottoman rule.
The building contains four rooms, created by Russian and Bulgarian artists. The introductory room features six paintings depicting the battle and struggle. Tourists are surrounded by the battle with the paintings on all sides. You can almost smell the gun powder and see the attacking armies. The panoramic hall contains a massive wall mural of the third battle and replica weapons from the period. The diorama hall contains a slightly smaller mural of the fourth and final battle. The surrender of the Ottoman field marshal Osman Pasha is depicted in the conclusion hall.
Standing in a building where three battles were fought with images of the struggle around you, you will be sure to feel the Liberation of Bulgaria for yourself.
