About Melbourne City Centre

Wish to experience the happening, urban life of Australia? Melbourne City Centre is just the place for you. Locally known as Central Business District or CBD, is where the tourists spend the bulk of their time.  It hosts most of the must-see attractions and the much happening nightlife. It offers plenty of clubs, bars and chic eateries on its street art-plastered laneways. A unique shopping experience awaits you through the ornate 19th-century arcades and the sprawling Victoria Market.  Head to the Federation Square to have a feel of Australian art at the Ian Potter Centre, or the Australian Centre for in-house films and Moving Image. The CBD is a hub of public transport as every train line and most tram routes pass through or terminate here.

The City Centre is also home to some of the tallest buildings in Australia. It has been placed alongside NYC and Berlin as one of the world’s great Steel Art Meccas and also designated as “City of Literature” by UNESCO.
