Trams are a big part of Melbourne's public transport system and the City Circle Tram provides a free and convenient way to get around central Melbourne. Shoppers, tourists, office workers, and families can use the City Circle Tram to travel to most of the major attractions, shops, and city events. Accompanied by an audio commentary, the tour provides details of city landmarks and major attractions such as the City Museum, Docklands, Federation Square, Melbourne Aquarium, Parliament House, and the Princess Theatre. The hop-on, hop-off heritage tram passes many of the grand historic buildings including the Old Treasury Building and the Windsor Hotel. The trams run every 12 minutes and take around 50 minutes to complete the entire loop. The tram stops are marked with a City Circle sign.
The City Circle route is serviced by heritage W class trams which are decorated in special maroon and green with yellow and gold trimmings. Tourists can spend a whole day on a City Circle Tram! Information leaflets, including an 'easy to understand' map of the city, is available on board each Tram.
Take a map and you are good to board one City Circle Tram.
