Albania, mostly known as the Republic of Albania, is a country in Southeast Europe. The country is one of the most popular tourist places in Europe for its historical as well as political importance. Tirana, the capital city of Albania is located in the centre of the country and plays a very important role in the development of the whole country. National History Museum, the largest museum of the country is home to the collection of Albania’s history and its archaeological treasures. The mosaic at the entrance called “The Albanians” is the summation of the stories of Albanians fighters who fought for the country. The mosaic was completed before the day of opening in the year 1980 by five Albanian artists.
The National History Museum has eight pavilions in total. They are pavilions of Antiquity, Renaissance, Middle Ages, Independence, National Liberation Anti-fascism War, Iconography, Communist Terror, and Mother Teresa. Pavilion of Antiquity is the most popular among them in the National History Museum. It consists of a total of 585 objects from the Paleolithic period to the antiquity (early middle ages). The objects were discovered in the South Illyria during the period of the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. The second best one, Pavilion of Independence includes the objects between 1912 and 1939, since the Declaration of Independence. The third one, Pavilion of Mother Teresa is dedicated to Teresa’s work, family and life. The objects are mainly associated with her international awards for the charitable work she did in the world.
By Air: Tourists can take a flight to Albania International Airport. From there they have to take a cab and get down at the National History Museum.
From the airport to the museum, the distance is around 18.1 kilometres and it will take approximately 34 minutes to cover the distance via Rruga e Aeroportit/SH60 and SH2.
By Cab: Tourists can also take a cab from Tirana to reach the museum.
The distance is around 1.6 kilometres and it will take around 7 minutes to reach the spot via Rruga Abdi Toptani.
