Known officially as the Kingdom of Bahrain, Bahrain is an island country in the Persian Gulf. Bahrain is best described as a melting pot. Culture and community from all different backgrounds come together to create the Bahraini culture. With deep roots in the Dimrun civilization, Bahrain was also under Portuguese, Persian, and eventually Utub rule. All of these cultures have brought something to the Bahraini tradition.
Bahrain is also a melting pot of ancient and modern. It protects and preserves its ancient heritage in Islamic mosques, souqs, and museums. Neighbourhoods and districts that would ordinarily seem out of place are honoured. Nature reserves help preserve and protect endangered species, while even the most modern buildings are environmentally aware. Ancient forts that once stood to protect the Bahraini population share island soil with amazing old trees.
