About Fløyen

Synonymous with the famous natural landscapes of Norway, the Floyen is one of those typical city mountains, that is surprisingly not typical at all! Standing about 400 meters above sea level, it is one of the ‘do not miss’ spots in Norway, offering breath-taking natural views. Reached via a hike of only an hour up and a half hour return, it is a manageable trek. If you are still apprehensive, you can take the furnicular to reach the top. Lined with trees and old houses, it is a spot that inspires romance and stirs the imagination. Open almost throughout the year, it is a great place if you want to see Norway in all its natural glory. Various hiking roads separate off from the main hiking track as well, if you are looking for some adventure! It is also a great spot for sledging in the winter months. It can be a true winter wonderland! Not to be missed!

  • At the top, there's a wonderful playground with things for all ages, there's food, there are trails and a forest of carved wooden trolls, there's a walk to a lake with opportunities to take a canoe out for a paddle, there are very tame goats to pat and there's a wonderful view.
  • There's a Godt Brod shop right near where you'll be lining up for the funicular, grab a wonderful coffee and/or bun or sandwich to enjoy while you wait.
  • Take the trail on back of the cafe, it is more scenic!
