About Cape Reinga

One of the most important landmarks of Te Paki, the name of this place is derived from the Maori belief that the spirits of the dead begin their final journey from the cape.  Popular for its picturesque lighthouse and coastal scenery, Cape Reinga is a must-visit for an ultimate northern New Zealand experience. Be blown away by its natural beauty, especially in the remote spot where 2 oceans meet. Though there are many bus tours available, you can discover a lot more about the area by self-drive. The long journey seems totally worth it as you see the Maori and the early European history come to life. You’ve seen it all once you visit this northernmost accessible point.
