The best known and most important landmark of the city of Trondheim, Nidaros Cathedral is a must-visit. Boasting of being the Northern-most medieval cathedral in the world, it is a magnificent gothic monument. The Church is located in the city centre and is visible from almost everywhere in the city. Another interesting fact about the church is that it is the second largest in Scandinavia. Need more reasons to visit? A superb example of gothic architecture, the construction of this monument is believed to have begun in 1070! The Church also hosts Olav’ Wake in the memory of King Olav II. It is, in fact, built on the king’s burial site. He was later canonised and became the patron saint of Norway. A great place to explore Norway’s past!
