Lordy, Lord!
You might exclaim as you gawk and gape at the treasures and opulence of the Moche civilization and one of their lords in particular - the Lord of Sipan. His tomb was excavated in Huaca Rajada and the buried treasures beautifully restored within this museum. The gold and silver workmanship is stunning. Gold pectoral plates will dazzle your eyes; so will jewelry, painstakingly and ingeniously crafted. The original site can also be visited. Scenes of human sacrifice have been recreated. The Pre-Columbian era comes to life in this well-managed museum. The lighting and layout are commendable. All the tombs have been replicated for a better understanding of a civilization that was as rich as it was fascinating. The credit goes to archaeologist Walter Alva, who discovered these tombs. The museum was inaugurated in 2002 and is one of the best in Latin America; not to be missed. Absolutely not!
The flight from Lima to Lambayeque starts at USD 104 and takes roughly 2 hours. The tombs are a 20-minute drive from the airport. A colectivo vehicle will take you there for 1.25 SOL per person.
