How to reach

It is about 45 kms from Reykjavík. you can take bus number 27,15,57,6 from Reykjavík to reach tingvelli which would cost 500 ISK.From thingvellir you can take cab that would cost 500 ISK to reach the valley

Tips

  • bring diving suit as you can enjoy snorkeling in the Silfra Gorge
  • you can see the tectonic plate area of two continents(north america and eurasia) with fissures
  • you can enjoy camping and hiking near the valley
  • wear warm clothes and hiking shoes both in summer and winter
  • you are allowed to do fishing in the lake
  • there are restaurants and shops near the lake
  • restrooms are free but for changing rooms you have to pay 200 ISK
