How to reach

Take a taxi from Cemorolawang to Mount Bromo. It is at a distance of 21.5 km . It will take  1hour and 13minutes to reach the mount.  One way fare of taxi varies from Indonesian Rupiah 100000 to Indonesian Rupiah 130000.

Tips

  • Mount Bromo is brimming with visitors, hence better to go during the week and do avoid Indonesian national holidays, if possible
  • The weather in Mount Bromo unpredictable, and the sun may or may not make an appearance,without the sunlight, is quite dark, you will not be able to see the mount
  • Earling morning visit calls for layers of clothing, but keep a daypack as when the sun comes out it will be hot
  • It is good to carry a torch or a head lamp, if there is no sunlight, torch will be helpful
  • There are people with horses, who charge for rides on horses to take tourists till the staircase that leads to the crater of the mount. The horses are very thin and whipped to carry tourists. You can decide to take the ride or not
  • Walking on the sand to the crater of Mount Bromo, wear good hiking boots, with good ankle support  so that walking will be easier
  • Remember to be properly equipped for this tour. As there is sand everywhere and due to the horses, plenty of dust arises, wear masks or a bandana or scarf on your face, to protect  your nose and mouth from inhaling the dust
  • Go in groups, avoid hiking alone for many reasons like you may injure yourself, it may not be safe, you will have to carry your own load etc.
  • Keep sunglasses to protect your eyes 
  • Be prepared for the sulfuric gas at the top of the crater, it has the typical rotten egg stench
  • Do carry a camera, the scenes are worth a capture and will be with you always
