About Old Trafford Stadium

'Old Trafford' the home of Manchester United, refers to a football stadium in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. This stadium has a total capacity of around 75000 and is thus is the largest club football stadium in the United Kingdom. Built-in the year 1910 it started with an opening match between Manchester and Liverpool on the 19th February.  Owing to its proximity to the Old Trafford Industrial area, the stadium was damaged badly during the air raids of World war 2 and took 8-year long to rebuild.

Old Trafford was selected as one of the playing venues during the 1966 World Cup and there were 3 games played at this venue. The years ahead saw many renovations and additions along with more seating areas, better executive amenities, and more cover. but the increase of boisterous acts had the installation of security fences that separates the stands from the pitch. Match days sees a special train provided from most Manchester city center stations to the Old Trafford Stadium rail station. There are quite a few options for accommodation around the stadium. Tickets for the games at Old Trafford can be bought online. Guided stadium tours are organized by Manchester United which includes the dugouts, player's tunnel, and the museum and lasts about 70 minutes. These are conducted on all days except on match days. Pre-booking that can be done online can help one avail a place and costs 18 Pounds. Call +44 (0) 161 826 1326 or email toursenquiry@manutd.co.uk. for more information.
