About Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

A visit to London is considered incomplete without a stop-by at Trafalgar Square at the heart of London. A large pedestrian area which is bounded on three sides by roads that lead to important landmarks and which serves as a major traffic intersection. This Plaza in the city of Westminster, London is probably the most famous of all London squares. Well known for its political rallies, exhibitions, carol singing around a large Christmas tree sent from Norway and inimitable New year celebrations.

Formerly known as Charing Cross(which is a small traffic island from where distances to all places in London are calculated), do find here Nelson's column guarded by four bronze lions built to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson's naval victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. The impressive center is flanked by the National Gallery and the Church of St. Martin-in-the-fields and also serves as an intersection.

Apart from the historic connect this place doles out dollops of the happening English vibe. A cheerful, lively center with myriad forms of artwork, street performers, fountains, music, events, and entertainment. Surely an art Connoisseur's haven!! A shutterbug's creative impulses can truly find expression here. All this activity is bound to bring out the hunger pangs in the visitors who can satiate themselves at the many restaurants, coffee shops or food stalls.
