9000 years and counting
A village that has seen it all; through 9000 years. It came into existence in the Neolithic age. What remains today are stubborn ruins and reconstructed buildings for tourists and locals to go back in time and glimpse the Neolithic way of life. Replicas of household objects recreate antiquity here. The plants and shrubs around the reconstructed dwellings have been there since the Neolithic times. They were brought to Cyprus by the Cypriot Aceramic Neolithic civilization. Diabase, a hard stone was used by these people for the manufacturing of stone vessels. These are fascinating insights of history you will learn when you set foot on this Unesco World Heritage site. Don't think twice.
The distance from the city center to this destination is 48.1 km. The public bus will take you there in 2 hours 10 minutes with a one-way ticket costing about 4 EUR.
A private car will reach you there in 40 minutes. Rental starts at 5 EUR.
This attraction is open all year-round.
It is closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday (Greek Orthodox).
