The question isn’t what you can do at Kok Tobe, it is what you can’t. Also referred to as the “Blue Hill”, this is a mountain in Almaty which is a hub of recreational activities, fun for the entire family.
The Kok Tobe Tower is located on the southern mountainside. It would be the tallest tower in the world at 372 m tall if it were measured from sea level. Unfortunately, because it is a TV tower, visitors may not climb the steel structure.
Visit The Beatles. That’s correct. All four of The Beatles are together in one bronze statue on Kok Tobe. Take a selfie with John Lennon and his guitar with the rest of the band behind you. It is the first monument of The Beatles together.
Top this off with an amusement park with rides, attractions, and restaurants. Get on the Fast Coaster, an absolute must. It is the only roller coaster on a mountain in Kazakhstan. Take your romantic partner for a stroll down the Alley of Lovers and make a wish at the Fountain of Desires. Go for a spin on the Ferris wheel and have lunch in a traditional yurt. Wondering how can you reach Kok Tobe, well you can either take a train, bus, taxi or even self-drive whatever is convenient for you.
If you take a train it takes 13 hours 50 minutes and will cost you 6500 to 17000 KZT.
If you take a bus it will take 17 hours 15 minutes and will cost you 6000 KZT.
If you drive from Astana to Kok-Tobe it will take approximately 17 hours.
