Museums hold a special place in almost everyone’s heart. They are a standing testimony to the past and culture of its locals. There is so much that one can learn about civilization, just by witnessing the artifacts and relics in the museum. Don’t miss out on the golden opportunity to do just that, by visiting The Poltava Museum of Local Lore.
The oldest museum of Ukraine, it was founded in 1891 by Professor Vasily Dokuchaev. It was specifically created to display natural history exhibits and local folk art. What keeps bringing tourists back to this museum is the hall called “Treasury” where the most unique objects are displayed to the public. In addition to this, the other halls include those for History, Archaeology, Nature, and Ethnography.
As exquisite as the exhibits displayed within the four walls of the museum is this former government building itself. The museum shows Ukrainian modern style and is beautifully adorned with the ceramic crests, of each district capital of the Poltava Oblast, as frontage decoration.
