About Lanín National Park

A cherry on the top of the cake would be to be rewarded with heavenly sights. This slice of heaven is the Parque Nacional Lanín at the Andes’ foot in Argentina.

The national park is especially known for its snow-capped Lanín volcano, glacial lakes, native Araucaria trees, and its endangered wildlife species. It is a protected area for these beautiful trees, also called Pehuén or the Mapuches’ Sacred Tree. This unique tree can reach up to 45 meters high and its top looks like a sun umbrella.

There are many animals and birds that call the park their home. These include condors, pumas, Huillín mink, and Pudú (small deer). The body of the deer has adapted to the environment and they are one of the many endangered species within the park.

During summers, the Parque Nacional Lanín is ideal for camping, basking on the beach, or biking trails. The 2-day hike up the Lanín mountain is one of the main activities of this park.
