About Quebrada de Humahuaca

Nature has a great sense of humor and even a greater sense of style. Almost all things in nature are so beautiful, pristine, and creative, that nothing man-made can be compared to it. One fine example is the geological wonder called Quebrada de Humahuaca. This is a narrow mountain valley in the country of Argentina.

Towards the south of the valley is the village of Purmamarca. Rising above this village is the famous “Seven Color Hills” or “Argentina’s Rainbow Valley.” The valley is famous for its layered geological strata of different earth-tone hues. From afar, it doesn’t look any different than a rainbow! It is a sight for sore eyes.

Apart from this, the valley has preserved traces of life that date as far back as 10,000 years ago. Right from the early hunter-gather tribes to the struggle for independence in the 20th Century. This sums up the entire history of the country in a single valley itself.
