Casa Na Bolom is a memorable former house, found in modern-day San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, that was once the residence of archaeologist Frans Blom along with his wife Gertrude Duby Blom. He a well-known documentary photographer, environmental pioneer, journalist and jungle adventurer. Today, it has turned into a hotel, museum, and research centre. The house was reconstructed by Frans Blom and Gertrude Duby an anthropologist, with the delicate taste of the great collectors. One of the most surprising factors is that the founders of Casa Na Bolom were not Mexicans. It is believed it works as a non-profit organisation which is specifically dedicated to the Lacandon Maya. It also takes efforts in the conservation of the Chiapas rain forest. If you’re interested in staying and poking around where legends lived, then this place is worth a visit.
