About Rotterdam Zoo

An interesting fact about the zoo is that its architect, Sybold van Ravesteyn, wanted to build it with very few fences, cages, and bars. So, the Rotterdam Zoo is truly one of its kind, with large spacious animal pens. These pens have been made in a way such that they resemble the natural habitat of the animals. Stroll through the different continents and acquaint yourself with the various species of birds and animals. You will be spoilt for choice here. Lose yourself in the Himalaya Highlands, or brave the Asian Rainforest. Opt for the African Savannah or go for the Gorilla Forest in Congo. Muster the courage to come face-to-face with the wild cats in the Tiger Creek. Take a deep breath before plunging into the oceanic world of sharks. No matter what you choose, you can be sure to be amazed and fall in love with these animals and birds.

There is a large indoor playground for children to just run around and play in. This is also a great way to introduce them to animals in the form of games. Let him slide down the fin of a humpback whale or climb and swing like monkeys in the play tower of Oewanja children’s jungle. An interesting fact about this 25-hectare huge zoo is that because of its large size the zoo has various addresses! But they are always open to visitors from their main entrance at Blijdorplaan 8. It also goes by the names of “Diergaarde Blijdorp” and “Stichting Koninklijke Rotterdamse Diergaarde.”
