About Pumalin Park

Originally created by the United States Conservation Land Trust, the Pumalín Park was gifted to Chile in 2017. With almost 10 million acres of land, it is South America’s largest national park.

The park is primarily Valdivian temperate rainforest and was declared a Nature Sanctuary in 2005 by the former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos. The land is therefore protected for its ecological values and development.

Visitors to Pumalín Park will enjoy the millennia-old alerce trees and original forests. Along with the snow-capped Andes Mountains, it makes for a beautiful coastline. To help visitors enjoy the park there are information centres, basic amenities, campgrounds, and trails.
