El Tajín is one of the biggest and most significant archaeological finds in the world. Located in southern Mexico, this pre-Columbian site was alive and well from 600 to 1200 CE, and in its day was home to thriving temples, palaces, ball courts, and pyramids. In 1992 El Tajín was named a World Heritage Site because of its huge cultural significance and the architecture of the buildings. The architecture of the monument is so good that it mirrors the outline of the surrounding hills and mountains. The 'Pyramid of the Niches' is an ancient Mexican and American masterpiece which reveals the symbolic importance of the buildings. Currently, the amazing monument is under the custody of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. El Tajín has stood as a classic example of the Mexican grandeur and its culture. Whether you’re trying to tick off the World Heritage Sites off your list, or you’re just a resident or visitor who wants to see history face-to-face, this is not a site to be missed!
