The town of Kom Ombo in Upper Egypt houses this rather unique temple- famous architecturally for its double structure. This means that it has two identical entrances, two identical Hypostyle halls and two identical sanctuaries isolated to two different Gods. The forecourt and the main temple all contain various intricate carvings, and the complex also contains a shrine, a birthing house and a pool where sacred crocodiles were kept. This temple is also unique in the way that it was known as a place of physical healing, and the engravings on the walls are some of the earliest representations of surgical and health-care instruments such as medicine bottles, forceps, tweezers, and scalpels.
