About Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are two larger than life statues that mark the presence of Amenhotep III. The statues are also called El-Salamat, as Salamat means protection and the statues weren't to symbolically watch over the mortuary complex of Amenhotep, which has now been eroded over the years. One of the most famous legends about the place is that it was called the Vocal Memnon, as the statues were known to sing every morning in the age when they were constructed. When you visit this spot, be sure to be mesmerized and stop if see if the mythical song reaches your ears or not.
