About The Temple of Horus at Edfu

The story of Horus is pretty well-known in popular culture, especially in films such as the Gods of Egypt, Stargate SG-1, and looks like the Kane Chronicles. The Temple of Edfu is dedicated to this very Horus, the son of Isis and Crisis. This is the best conserved Ptolemaic temple and its construction began in 237 BC. The complex consists of traditional temples, and some Greek halls that display in its carvings the story of the birth of Horus and some of his conquests.  Before you make your way to explore this magnificent site of history, do read up on the Eye of Horus and its legends, so that you can make the most of what you see there.
