Welcome to the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World! These pyramids are the largest in Egypt and are located on the Giza plateau near Cairo. They took nearly twenty years to build, and all by hand. To date, the specifics of how these pyramids were constructed remain a mystery to humankind- as do the stories of excavation and inhabitants. Built by the Pharaohs, the three pyramids are essentially tombs or a necropolis - but they are as much about how the Egyptians lived as they are about how they died. Three of Giza's pyramids and their burial complexes were built from 2550 to 2490 B.C. Giza pyramid complex includes the three Great Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers' village, and an industrial complex. The three Great Pyramids are Khufu/Cheops, Khafre/Chephren, and Menkaure. The height is about 146.7 meters and the length is about 230.34 meters.
One can go on for hours without realizing how time flew for there is so much to walk around and gush over. It was constructed as a tomb for the Fourth Dynasty Egyptian pharaoh Khufu. Visiting this magnificent place is a once in a lifetime experience. You can take a horseback tour to ride into the desert to see them if you don't wish to walk. There is also a small museum attached to the pyramids, and it houses the Khufu's solar boat as well. Spend enough time exploring both the interiors of the pyramids as well as the exterior complex, and if you like taking pictures, the sun leads to some very interesting hide and seek patterns on the pyramids for you to capture.
