How to reach

Wondering how can you reach Penguin Parade, well you can either take a train, bus, taxi or even self-drive. 
If you take a train it takes 15 hours 19 minutes costs you $ 272 to $ 474. 


If you drive from Canberra to Penguin Parade it costs you $ 326 to $ 550 and the approximate fuel cost: and costs you $ 150 to $ 230.
 

Tips

  • Get there early, take your time to wander through Penguin Parade to learn all about the lives of the little penguins. You can even peek into the burrows beneath the center to view the penguin chicks waiting for their parents.
  • No photos allowed during the parade.
  • Bring warm clothes as it can get breezy on the beach at any time of the year.
  • Penguins arrive at sunset, which can affect the bedtime routine for your kids. 
  • During winter and spring penguins usually arrive early, while in the warmer months, during daylight savings it could be 9 p.m.
  • Arrive early so you are among the first to choose your seats at the viewing areas at the beach.
  • There is a cafeteria at the Penguin Parade Visitor Centre, but you can also bring along your picnic hamper basket.
  • There are toilet facilities available. 
  • If you stay longer you might get lucky to move closer to the penguins as more people leave.
