About Australian War Memorial

Built-in 1941, this is Australia’s National Memorial built as a tribute to its armed forces and its supporting organizations who were martyred in wars involving the commonwealth of the country.

Educate your kids through the free story-telling sessions of extraordinary people and animals.  See the faraway places brought to life through puppets, uniforms, and educational toys.  Get an insider’s view of the Memorial’s exhibitions and galleries with our behind-the-scenes tours and talks by the Memorial’s historians and curators. Pre-booking is a must for this. You can also support the Memorial’s activities by helping with the acquisition and preservation of their collections. The museum is disabled-friendly and offers wheelchair and stroller facilities on hire.  Entry is free.

If you take a taxi from Canberra to Australian War Memorial it takes 4 minutes to cost you $ 12 to $ 16.


If you take a bus It takes 8 minutes and costs you $ 2 to $ 5.

  • Still-photography and handheld video cameras are permitted.
