About Kangaroo Island

Known as Australia’s natural zoo, the Kangaroo Island is home to native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species.  Visit the Seal Bay Conservation Park on the South coast where you can take a Boardwalk Tour to see the most endangered of animals the Australian sea lions. If you prefer a less, crowded tour, opt for the 2-hour Twilight Beach Tour.  You can also spend the night camping in Stokes Bay with a sea pool enclosed by rocks. It’s a haven for foodies as you try the seasonal oysters, abalone and more. You can also enjoy an outdoor dining experience, feasting on local produce in a pop-up summer eatery.  Though you can spot native birds and animals everywhere in the island, visit the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to spot koalas. Also, keep your eyes open for a troop of black swans and dozens of Australian pelicans at the wharf in Kingscote where they come every day to feed on fish.

You can also take a walk through the wilderness in Flinders Chase National Parks with many of the hikes offered. Take your pick from the Ravine Des Casoars Hike which goes through a wooded valley to a remote sandy beach or just make your way through the bushland on the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trek.
