About Uppsala Cathedral

Known to have been built over 750 years ago in the 13th century, this Cathedral in Sweden is still completely functional. Legend says that during the Viking era, there was a Pagan church very close to this spot, where now stands this Catholic church. Also the tallest church building in Scandinavia, it was renovated in the Dutch Renaissance style during the 1600s. Today, you can visit the cathedral on all days as a tourist, and can attend the services in the morning as well. The North Tower also houses the Treasury Museum for visitors to walk through. This museum, also known as the Skattkammeren displays some of Europe's finest medieval church fabrics and silks. You will also see and hear the majestic organ, which is played during services. You can walk through the abbey and pay reverence to the many notable monarchs and others who have been buried here. If you wish to purchase a souvenir, you can also visit the Cathedral shop and cafe.
