If you ever wanted to visit a beautiful, well-preserved Medieval European town, your search ends at Visby. The city, in Gotland area, is a visual delight, no matter which season you visit it. The pottered lanes with their cobbled stones, the roofed cottages and the famous wildflowers all along the city will leave you spellbound. There is an abundance of Gothic churches and Ramparts, from all the way back in the 12th Century. During summer, if you visit during Medieval Week, you will find tons of people walking around in full period costumes and they will engage you in their performances as well. This town used to be a Viking settlement and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can also cycle along the town wall- known to locals as the Ringmuren.
