About Koh Nang Yuan Island

Looking for a picture-perfect postcard king of a  getaway? The private island of Ko Nang Yuan beckons. It is a group of three small islands just a 15-minute boat ride from Koh Tao. Pack a picnic and hire a longtail boat for an authentic Thai experience across the bay.

During low tide, the beach is a white coral sand bar that disappears when the tide comes back in. Stretch out in the sun and then go snorkeling or diving into the crystal-clear turquoise water. Parrotfish and angelfish greet you along the shallow coral reefs. There’s no better place for snorkeling in Thailand. Then, hike to the viewpoint on the smaller island. In 20 minutes you will have those postcard views of the islands and shores. Finish off your day with a drink at the resort before heading back to reality.

Koh Nang Yuan is a cluster of three little islands joined by two strips of lands and surrounded by coral reefs and greenery. It is one of the best places to travel when you are in the mood for some adventure. You can snorkel, scuba- dive, hike, kayak, swim, and can fully experience its pristine waters. During low tide, the strips of white coral sand serve as a beach, but it disappears during the high tide. It is located not far from Koh Tao, an idyllic diving island. Not only for the adventurous sports, but you can also try this island if you are in the mood for relaxation. You can just sunbathe by the beach, taking in the picturesque views of the islands, and unwind yourself. The sunset and sunrise views are amazing.

The island is famous for its alluring pristine waters, white sand, and the picturesque view. The 15 to 20 minutes of hiking to the viewpoint will present you with a mesmerizing view of the three islands connected by the sandbar. There are many diving sites which you can find on the island. Twin Peak is one such highly popular site. There is also a beautiful Japanese garden that provides a tranquil space under the shadow of a big rock where you can find people lying around on their towels. One can also find an abundance of fish nearby the garden. The place is always high on the crowd, so it is recommended to book a resort to avoid the rush. This place, with its spectacular views, is one of the best locations to visit in Thailand and it would surely not disappoint you.

Tips

  • It can get crowded! There are a lot of boats with large amounts of tourists.
  • The island closes at 5 p.m. and at this time, only the guests of the resort are allowed to stay.
  • There is currently just one resort on the island, Koh Nang Yuan Island Dive Resort. If you wish to get the beach all to yourself (until the tours arrive and leave), staying here might be your best bet.
  • The resort restaurant is the only place to buy food and it is pricier than the average Thai restaurant.
  • Plastic water bottles are confiscated upon arrival which means you have to purchase water from the resort’s restaurant.
  • Be sure to bring a hat, some sunscreen, and plenty of water as it can get quite warm.
  • You can enjoy the maximum beauty of the place only if you stay at night
  • The low tides offer a more peaceful environment as you can experience the waves without wondering about the strong currents
  • If you stay at a resort on the Island, you can go for an early swim if you want to have alone time
  • The only restaurant in the Island is quite expensive hence consider carrying snacks along
  • You are not allowed to take plastic bottles or cans on the Island
  • Currents can be robust during the high tide
  • Hike to the viewpoint at the top of the three islands
  • Book a resort in advance to avoid rush
