How to reach

By minivan:

Take a minivan from Surathani Talad Kaset Station to Khao Sok. It is a journey of 117.3 km that is covered in 2 hours 30 minutes and costs 200 THB. The journey will include a 30 minute walk from Khao Sok to Khao Sok National Park.

Tips

  • While the park is home for many exotic wild mammals such as Asian elephant, Malayan tapir, gibbons, it is more famous for the symbolic flower of Surat Thani Province, the huge Bua Phut (Rafflesia kerrii) flower found on a trail starting from the main road south of the park. Don't miss out on this attraction.
  • Local guides must be hired the latest the day before, otherwise, there's a high possibility of you not getting someone to take you around.
  • More professional English speaking guides can be arranged from the hotels for a higher price inclusive of transportation, meals, and refreshments. Make sure you discuss these with your hotel beforehand.
  • You are not recommended to walk longer trails on your own, as that would mean breaking national park regulations.
  • Poaching is strictly prohibited in the national park.
  • Be sure to bring a hat, some sunscreen, and plenty of water as it can get quite warm.
