About La Rambla

Yes, it is a little bit "high" on the touristy scale. That's because every tourist in Barcelona has to walk La Rambla. This 1.2 km tree-lined pedestrian street separates Barcelona's old town's Gothic quarter from El Raval.

Dotted with souvenir shops and outdoor cafes, this street has an almost circus-like atmosphere. Flamenco dancing could break out at any moment — and often does. Buskers and human statues vie for tourist attention and Euros. But walk this street in the heart of Barcelona and you'll encounter locals as well as tourists. You'll be walking amidst — and on top of — Miro's circular tile work. You'll pass the Liceu Theatre and several galleries. Stop at La Boqueria, Barcelona's famous street market. And when you need a break, and a workout for all things sensory, pull over and grab a coffee in an outdoor cafe and watch the world go around, just like the locals.
