About Cambridge

If you thought that the town of Cambridge in England was only about the University, you are mistaken. Of course, the University of Cambridge often forms the centerpiece of any visit to the city, and you must take a walking tour through the public areas of the campus. After that though, give yourself time to let the city enthrall you. Cambridge has a thriving arts and culture scene, so you will find a plethora of art exhibitions, musical performances and theatrical shows in various venues across the city. You can enjoy punting at the River Cam and make the most of the sunshine by setting up a picnic by the river parks. The city also has a thriving calendar of festivals all across the year such as the Folk Festival, the Beer Festival, Big Weekend and the Secret Garden festivals. The town is historically pitted against its rival, the Village and the University of Oxford. So be sure to ask a local about the "other place" to hear a little bit of the famous English good-natured ribbing. The town is also famous for its many hole-in-the-wall rare and second-hand bookstores. If they take your fancy, be sure to spend an afternoon walking around the cobbled paths looking for these.
