Did you know that the village of Cotswold in the United Kingdom has officially been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? This is the largest AONB and protected landscape in all of England. Supposed to have grown out of a Neolithic Settlement, the Cotswold region derives its name out of the hills that surround it. Another reason for this name is the fame of the Cotswold Lion sheep that are used in the wool trade. When visiting this area, be sure to drive through the rolling hills and country roads and landscapes. You'll see ancient trees, limestone-rich flowered grasslands, and gorgeous blue skies. Stop by for picnic to make the most of these. The Huntsman's Quarry in Cotswold also provided the discovery of fossils of the Megalosaurus, a named dinosaur. If you holiday here and tire of walking around, rent a cycle or ask for a horse-ride so you don't stop exploring the entire place. Castle Rock on Cleeve Hill also allows for rock-climbing for the discerning climbers. Be sure also to enjoy the famous scones and cream, as well as the fresh fruit and flower jams made in the region. You can buy some to carry back for your loved ones.
