About Blenheim Palace

The Blenheim Palace in Woodstock was built in the early 1700s. Designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, the palace is built in the Baroque style of architecture. Since then, the palace has been renovated multiple time to suit the residents' tastes. The property is a UNESCO World Heritage site and belongs to the Churchill family and its descendants. You can see a lot of memorabilia about them in the palace visitor center. While open to the public, the Palace, its parks and gardens are all part of a functional estate which still houses residents, the Dukes of Marlborough. You can see a  134 foot tall stone column and the statue of the Duke in the North of the park.  For visitors, the Pleasure Gardens by the ground are of great interest, and they connect to the palace by the small Bleinheim Park Railway train. These grounds make for a great picnic venue on a warm day. Fun fact, even now, the residents have to present a copy of the French Flag to the English monarch on the anniversary of the Battle of Blenheim as a signatory rent for the palace grounds.
