About Sozopol

The small town of Sozopol is a major seaside resort and the oldest town on the Bulgarian Black Sea. It is a beautiful old town with cobblestone streets perfect for the wandering tourist.
Cinderella would have felt quite at home in the Castle of Ravadinovo there. It looks like it jumped from the pages of a children’s fairy-tale. Book your horse-riding lesson while you’re there. Visit the old part of town with its small streets, and authentic old-world charm. The two-story wooden houses with their second floors extended out over the street are an architectural delight. Pick up some handmade jewelry from one of the shops. History buffs will want to visit the Archaeological Museum and the Southern Fortress Wall. If you’re a food connoisseur, get a bite of moussaka and stuffed peppers for a little local Black Sea flavor.
If you want somewhere to do all these things and stretch out on a beach, then Sozopol is the place to be.
The little seaside town becomes a hub of activity at the end of the summer when it hosts the Apollonia Art and Film Festival. Ten days of concerts, films, and literary evenings will have you singing your entire way home.
