About Frederiksborg Castle

This is the beautiful castle that houses the Museum of National History. A tour through this historic castle will give you a lot of insight into Danish history, culture, and architecture. Built on three islands, the castle is also surrounded by many smaller water bodies and parks, most of which are open to the public. The castle is made of grand halls, smaller rooms, intricate passageways and even has a functional moat and drawbridges. You will find audio guides at the entrance that will allow you to explore the rich stories of the Frederiksborg castle at your own pace. This is also the largest Renaissance castle this side of the European continent. You will also find the Neptune Fountain in the castle grounds - this is a recreation, as the original was taken as a war bounty by the Swedish. The chapel by the castle is also a unique specimen of the Baroque style of chapel architecture.
