History fanatics would be beside themselves if given the opportunity to be right in the center of a reenacted but important historic battle. Imagine the joy of being in an interactive setting where you can even touch the weapons used in battle! Then ensure that you visit the Memorial Waterloo 1815 museum. So much more than just a museum, it is a very interactive experience. There are so many activities arranged to enable the visitors to participate and feel like they are actually in the midst of this important battle. A gripping 3D movie will be displayed that teleports you centuries back in time. You can walk in 2000 sq. meter trail and experience the battle for yourself. There are numerous scenes and special effects at work that enhance this experience. Apart from this, you can also see the 40-meter tall Lion’s Mound monument that symbolizes the victory of the royals. This monument was erected on the request of William I, King of the Netherlands in 1826. His elder son was said to have been wounded at this spot during the battle, due to which the King wanted to commemorate it. The Panorama is yet another attraction of the museum. It is a 1912 panoramic painting by the master Louis Dumoulin, of the epic battle. This enormous painting is 12 meters high with a circumference of 100 meters! Surely, this is a sight for sore eyes.
